Varios 970's

“I have been trialling the Varios 970 ultrasonic scaler by NSK for the past 3 weeks in practice. I have been looking for an ultrasonic scaler which is efficient, has a range of tips especially; a range of perio tips and is portable. I was trained using both magnetic constriction ultrasonic's and piezon based ultrasonic's but of late worked only with magnetic constriction based scalers and was finding this limiting. I also work in two rooms in my practice and needed something that is portable. The Varios has been fantastic. It is easily set up, the hand piece is comfy and allows good tactile sensation while scaling. The G4 tip is my favourite for general scaling and the perio. tips have made complex root surface debridement more achievable and more efficient. The power settings have a good range and the water feed bottles work well although I have yet to use any medicaments in the water. What has made a huge difference to my work is the twin led light. For one week I had no nurse and the light came into its own especially in tricky posterior regions. The light also had great benefits to my nurse once she was back with me she also had better illumination of the treatment area. At the end of the day an easy quick unit to flush through and close down. Its size and weight means it is easily transported between my surgeries and the tip cases and hand piece box make for easy safe cleaning and autoclaving. The varios 970 has been a pleasure to use; a great piece of equipment and one I feel I still have not finished exploring.”
